    great,

I suppose a fix for the alembic/material issue won't be available that quickly....

To be honest - I have no clue at the moment.

I have messaged one of the developers I know could help with this and will return to you with more info once I get a response.

      All the best!

        Hey Gosho,

I am just running into performance degratations again when using alembics. This time, there is no bercon noise involved so there is definitly something not right with the way alembics processed. Is there any news on that fix? Also for later reference, is there a bug-number for this? The performance problems on the higher core count machines are a massive problem for us because we need to bake geometry into vrscenes which is slow/big/bad.

          Hey there!

The issue number is HOU-1113 - there's been no progress there, unfortunately.

Last time I managed to simplify the scene down to the point where the Bercon texture specifically seems to be causing the issues. If you're hitting another problem, I would be really grateful if you provided us with the files. If you're under NDA, you can use the support@chaosgroup.com mail or message me directly - we won't be sharing any of your files.

          Best regards!

Hey gosho, are there any news on the NUMA volume performance problem. I would need to render volumes, but with the current speed on our machines, this is impossible.

Hey, ronald_a , I'm afraid not much has changed regarding NUMA and volumes. I assure you it's high on the list of tasks, sadly more urgent issues keep popping up and the dev team has not had the chance to get to this.

hey gosho, any news? Is core 4.3 bringing any improvements here?

Hey, ronald_a , we've managed to get to the bottom of this - I can't make any promises on behalf of the dev team but I'm hoping we'll have this resolved very soon. I'll ping you with updates by the end of this week.

                        All the best!

ronald_a , the issue is now fixed in V-Ray, we'll need a couple of days to bring the latest fixes to V-Houdini. I'll ping you when we have a build for you to check.

                          All the best!

sweet. very much looking forward to that. I suppose this will only be in core 4.3+.

Yup. Do you need it in the 4.12 builds - I can ask the dev team if that would be possible ?

no, not really. Is there any word when there will be a stable version with 4.3 core (update 1?)? I'm a little bit reluctant using the nightlies in production (allthough I also had issues using newer versions of stables as well).
