That's a Houdini license error, not a V-Ray one. To be honest with you, I'm at a loss here. I've tried searching for the error message but no luck so far.
Regarding the V-Ray licensing, here's the requirements:
    1. You should be running either Houdini Indie or Commercial. Apprentice won't work with 3-rd party plugins.
    2. V-Ray should be able to pull licenses from the Client/Slave machines - we ship a setvrlservice.exe file with V-Houdini under appsdk/bin/setvrlservice.exe which can be used to specify the license server.
    3. You will need V-Ray Render Node licenses for each client.

The whole thing works for Mantra render Jobs, all render elements are present and all clients are working. We already have the service setup with administrator rights for all clients and the server.
IIRC, when rendering with Apprentice, there is a logo attached to the bottom right of the rendered image. If present in your renders, it's probably a license setup issue with Houdini. You could also try sending a 4K image render - if Houdini is not pulling licenses correctly, this should fail.

Regarding V-Ray - when you click on a job in HQueue, there is a button to download diagnostic information. If you could mail me 2 files - one for a regular Mantra job, and one for the V-Ray job, I'll try to figure out a way to reproduce this. The only thing that comes to mind is the environment variables setup - the PATH variable is being directly written into instead of appended to - maybe that's interfering with the licensing...
I'm trying to reproduce this here by removing licenses with no luck so far.

edit: I came across this post: https://blog.cerebero.com/post/15321...could-be-found Maybe we'll luck out, can you please try restarting Services -> HoudiniServer / HoudiniLicenseServer

I've managed to reproduce the licensing error by changing the license server to localhost in the License Administrator on a Client (slave) machine.
Although, in my case, neither Mantra nor V-Ray renders would succeed.

          Code:
No licenses could be found to run this application.
Please check for a valid license server host
          Those are Houdini license messages.

Hi Gosho.Genchev I haven't managed to devote any time to this over the last few days unfortunately but will try again tonight.

            to answer your post here

            1. We are using 1 license of Houdini FX 17.5.293 to generate IFD's and submit to the farm (5x Mantra nodes inc.)
            2. The license server for vray is running on a different server but is configured correctly in setvrlservice.exe

            3. we have 3 x Vray NEXT Render Nodes and 1x Vray render node - Is this an issue?

The three Vray next render nodes are from Vray NEXT for 3DS max, when we got our Vray for Houdini License we recieved a Vray Render node not Vray NEXT Render node.

            bdancer
I assumed as much are these messages from the server or a client machine?

rorys, 3 it's better to use the Standalone from VFH. Basically you could use any but just need to make sure it's version is not lower (thus containing all features/fixes VFH has).
Messages are generated by the Houdini license server I guess; basically I meant those are not generated by V-Ray.

I assumed as much are these messages from the server or a client machine?
I believe those are coming from the client machine. As I mentioned in my previous post on the topic, I got the same message once I re-routed the Houdini license server on the client machine to point to localhost instead of our internal license server. I'm still baffled you're able to submit Mantra jobs but get Houdini license errors when using the V-Ray ROP.

when we got our Vray for Houdini License we recieved a Vray Render node not Vray NEXT Render node.
Can you please message support about this ? You should receive a NEXT Render Node license - what you've quoted is me writing without realizing it may confuse you. That's probably not the reason for your issues with HQueue though.
