  • renderregion in vfb

at some point when using renderregions in vfb, I am not able to reset/change my renderregion. It remains the same and those settings seem to be saved with the respective rop. the only way I can get rid of this problem is to create a new rop and reapply all the settings. Please fix!

Hello ronald_a , if those "buggy" settings are saved in the ROP, can you send us a scene with such a ROP. It will be very helpful.

Hey chakarov, attached is a scene. But what I just found out is, that this issue only appears on one of my monitors (1/2). So if I move the vfb on monitor 2 (which is the one my houdini gui is usually), it works. If I move it to monitor 1, change the renderregion and hit render, it will render the previous renderregion until I move it back to monitor 2 and hit render there. This seems to be only true for production renders, not for ipr.

So my conclusion is, that the rop is fine, it's just that it seems that the renderregion is not actually update, when the vfb is on the "wronge" screen.

I've tried the provided file on my side and can't find region issue. What are your Houdini version, V-Ray build and OS?

@bdance. Just tried with yesterday's nightly - same thing. Again, this appears to be a multiscreen issue. I can work around this by drawing a region and rendering on a specific screen. This might even have something to do with my setup (driver version, etc.). I'd say, don't waste your time on this for now, it seems somewhat hard to reproduce on your side. It might go away at some point and it's just a problem for the renderregion of the production renderer - ipr is fine which is more important.

Can you send me your desktop file from document/houdini ver/desktop/ to try it here.

I can, but I have just completly reset all my houdini setting (renamed documents/houdini ver) and it is still there. The only thing I did was to load vray, no custom nothing - also no desktop. Can still send you my desktop though

Sorry ronald_a , but I couldn't reproduce this bug here. I've tried, may be, every possible combination of setting the region and pressing the render button for production or IPR but it is working as expected. I do not have idea how to track this.

hey, no worries. It's not that big of a deal. As I said, it might go away with a driver update/windows update etc. thanks for trying anyways.
