  • (Fixed) [HOU-1366] strange behavior of remap texture

    Using a userFloat and remap texture to control e.g. reflection glossiness.
    While using the value output of remap I cant see any effect. If I use color output it works. If I plug the value into a colorToFloat it works also with the value output ?! Is this a bug or do Im using this map wrong?

    Hello Jon3D , this is definetly a bug. If the value is plugged in a color input of the material /e.g. self-illumination/ it shows some information, but looks like it's not a float. I've reported it. Thanks for the feedback.

      I'm considering hiding this node.
      You could use "Gradient Ramp" node in "Position" mode for similar re-mappings.

        A curve correction for textures is very important, I have used this node in many of my setups.. I reported the same issue here under HOU-1176

          Why? Exporter automatically converts (creates "color to float" or "float to color" internally on export) socket types (when connection line is dashed).

            I'm talking about Vray remap node, connecting the value or color output to reflection glossiness doesn't work in my case

              remap node seems to be broken in "43000", "cc70727". I have to say its a nice node to have, lot of artist prefer to use this one.

                  +1 for not hiding this, it's one of our most-used nodes as well. Curve-style remapping is crucial.
