  • [HOU-1475] CPU--Incorrect Refraction

Trying to render my scene with CPU, getting the correct LightSelect Elements from three lights, but now the refraction with CPU is incorrect. I get correct refraction with GPU, but no lightSelect Elements, or I get LightSelect elements with incorrect RBG Color and Denoiser result.

    VFH: vray_adv_41203_houdini17.5.293_21bc157_6029
    Houdini 17.5.460
    Windows 10

To be fair, I have no clue what is causing this - I'm assuming the first image from the post above is the effectsResult while the 3 images that follow are the individual Light Select elements, correct?
Would it be possible to share the hip file? I've tried rebuilding something similar according to the description of your scene here ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/VRay...3976409754927/ ) but I am not hitting any of the issues mentioned.
Here's my file in case you'd like to take a look: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10gy...ew?usp=sharing

      All the best!

Yes, correct, the first image from top is the effectsResult from CPU, the rest are LightSelect from CPU as well. Seems the issue was due to the vray build version i was using at the time. After updating to a newer build I can generate lightSelect with GPU, but now Object Properties in the Vray ROP do not work at all as i reported in the last post. The refraction with CPU still seems to be an issue though. here is the link basically same scene https://www.dropbox.com/s/d3tidixqz4...ray.hiplc?dl=0

Dang, it's the Material Complex causing the washed out appearance. Please replace it with a VRay Material VOP into Bump VOP, as shown in my scene above. The problem is gone on my end after doing this. Logging this for fixing, too.

          Cheers!

that is a cool setup! I just learned something. Thank you for looking into it.

Just a suggestion, if you guys can post more examples like these with different Houdini setups and materials, that would be a huge help for us rookies. The reason I set up the MaterialComplex was that it was the only way i could figure out how to apply a bump map. The Documentation was not clear enough.
