  • vhf_ipr error on Mac

    On Mac (stable and latest nightly), both 17.5 and 18 I get the error below when trying to drop down a vray render rop:

    Traceback (most recent call last):
    File "vray_show_vfb", line 1, in <module>
    File "/Users/Shared/tools/houdini/vray/vray_175_mac/vfh_home/scripts/python/vfh/__init__.py", line 25, in <module>
    import _vfh_ipr
    ImportError: No module named _vfh_ipr

    Hello corestudio , what package did you use - with installer or archive. If you are using the installer one, be sure that "Houdini Packages" folder is correct. On "Current installation parameters" step in installer window press button "Customize" and for "Houdini Packages" paste the correct Resource folder. In my case "/Applications/Houdini/Houdini18.0.287/Frameworks/Houdini.framework/Versions/18.0/Resources/packages" . Similar if you want to install V-Ray on your H17.5. I apologize that help page is not yet updated with installer steps, this will be done soon.

      No I didn't use the installer, just the archive. We have it set to a custom location in the env. Works fine on Windows

        so, just to clarify, you have set the VFH location and other V-Ray specific env variables into houdini.env and V-Ray is not loaded?
        I will take a look and will write you back.

          with osx catalina using the archive is a real pain because you have to allow a ton of files to be executed, maybe you missed the ipr part. ignore if you don't use catalina.

              However, it does look like we have it working - at least in 18 - on the Mac. But 17.5 still has issues (bug 244-157-1109) but I'm going to try the latest suggestion from support. H18+vray has some other slow rendering issues I think related to SSS but not positive (243-362-6425)
