  • [HOU-1675] Houdini takes gets changed when rendering

    Hi!

The Houdini takes are being changed when rendering.
Attached a scene with two render ops and two takes. After I render the one with take2 the take2 has changed to include parameters made on take1.

We are relying on the ROP_Node base class to handle takes, meaning we are running absolutely zero code related to takes. I'll check with SideFx.

bdancer Did you figure something out regarding this issue?
Currently takes are a bit flakey to use because of this.

      Cheers!

We got in touch with SideFx and trying to figure it out on our end. We'll ping you ASAP once we have a solution.

        All the best!

          Great!
A hint could be that the take is applied in the interface of Houdini before rendering with vray.
Rendering with mantra the take is not applied in the interface. Guessing that the take is applied at ifd creation somehow instead.

          Cheers!

Hey Hannes Drossel , so I've been assuming it's my Houdini version, OS or V-Ray that causes this but so far, I've had no luck reproducing this on Windows, OSX and Linux with Houdini 17.5.391 and Houdini 18.0.348.

Apologies for taking off your time but could you please check if the same behavior is present when using Mantra ? If not, could you please record a video showing this ? I'm completely out of ideas on how to go about reproducing this here. Even tried plugging the V-Ray Renderer in custom OTLs, running IPR, etc.

            Thank you!

                Hi!
Sorry for the delay in sending you the videos Gosho.Genchev

                Sending you two videos.
Video 1 showing the dirty takes after rendering issue.
Video 2 showing another issue with vray and takes. In mantra you can still change stuff even if you are rendering in a take. In vray because the take is applied in the interface when rendering all parameters are locked and cannot be changed.

                Scene file attached as well.
