  • Vrscene from 3dsmax to houdini issue

    Doing a test with an object that has procedural displacement, just bercon noises and cellular maps. Exporting from 3dsmax and importing into houdini, the object seems to be rendering "fine", and doing all the displacement calculations, however i don't have access to the displacement tree that is present in 3dsmax.

    Clicking "import materials" shows me 2 (?) random materials that have no connection to 3dsmax. And i have found no way to access the displacement maps.

    What's the workaround for this?

    Vray for Houdini latest nightly, Max 2020 - Vray Next 3.1

    Hi Moriah , those "random" nodes are not random at all, this is how your material from max is saved so V-Ray can understand it, this is done during the export process. Strange thing here is that displacement is completely missing, can you send me the vrscene here at georgy.chakarov@chaosgroup.com or support@chaosgroup.com.

      There is indeed a falloff in max, my bad (i wasn't the one working with that max file)
