  • crypto matte and deep

    Hi,

I am working on a project which does (in parts) benefit greatly from using deep output. it seems that when rendering deep, other REs are not rendered. Is this a limitation or am I missing something?

to add to this, it seems the REs are rendered but are not or only partly saved into the exrs.I am rendering crypto matte which are completly ignored and denoise RE which are only saved in parts.

What Houdini and V-Ray build you are using?

          Hi ronald_a ,
It is not possible to use deep output and cryptomatte together. Cryptomatte can't be written in a deep exr and a single-channel exr does not support deep output, so even if you separate elements into different files, deep output won't work.

Which elements are not rendered when using deep? I couldn't reproduce it.

            Hi chakarov ,

out of interest - is this an exr limitation or a vray limitation? Either way, is there a proposed workflow for that scenario that does not involve rendering deep once and then rendering again without deep for the cryptomattes. Also I am unable to get that denoise elements correctly for denoise in nuke. It seems there are some RE like reflectionfilter and so on, but others aren't there that should be part of the denoise elements - that is when rendering deep.
