  • OCIO color conversion to match input image

    Hi,

Just having a small issue with color matching, not sure if it's vray or something more intrinsic to OCIO conversions.

I input an BG tex with transforms then view it in the VFB with the display transform and the color is different.

    Any help appreciated.

    best,
    Jim

This is expected behavior, because the ACES Output transform includes Tonemapping. It uses an S shaped curve to enhance mid-tone contrast and compress shadows and highlights.
If you want a perfect match(if you have a logo or backplate) you should use,
In, Out sRGB(if this is what you use in the frame buffer)
    Out, ACEScg

This way you gonna get a perfect match... You shouldn't do this with all your textures though

On another note, do yourself a favor and use the most recent version of ACES here.. ACES 1.2

Thanks for that. I will also update to the latest OCIO.
