  • (Resolved) VDB volumes render workflow

    Hello,
excuse me but I just cannot find in docs how to render Houdinis volumes. Is there any documentation or tutorial to this?

    What I tried:
I created Vray Material and plugged Volumetric Grid Shader there
I made a box, turned it into the fog VDB and assigned a material
    Nothing is being rendered.

In docs there is that I should feed vdb into Volumetric Grid Node, however it does not support vdb files?

don't plug the volume grid shader in the material, assign it directly

Ok, I just realized that I need to pack primitves before assigning material. Issue solved .]]

Yeah, consider one simulation as something that contains many volumes - density, velocity, flame, Cd, etc. To render it as a single thing, it needs to be packed, and the shader that uses all these different volumes, assigned to that. If you have separate simulations, each needs to be in its own packed primitive
