  • (Fixed) [ HOU-2214 ] vrscene and motioblur

    Hello!

when we are doing environments or big assets we usually have pretty small vrscene in lookdev and the in lighting they take alot longer to generate. I've come to the conclusion that when adding motionblur or adding motioblur and transfom to the asset the vrscene takes alot longer.

    in the example below:
    30 sec with no motioblur
2 min with motionblur(this changes randomly sometimes it feels like)
4 min with motionblur and transform on the asset rendered

so it can become 8x slower sometimes with same asset. and we have had assets taking up to an hour. Is this just how it works or is there a fix you guys can do or i can do?

    Many regards Alexis

Hi LeoYfver and sorry for late reply, but I can't reproduce it , at least I can't without bgeos. Problem might be those bgeo caches, V-Ray can't render bgeo cache directly, like alembic for example. bgeos are baked into vrscene and moblur will force geometry baking for every sample of moblur which will increase export times.

hey! i thought i sent them in the zip :/ its instanced alembics which are save down as a bgeo. I thought that was working fine. seems to have been working fine for us and we have this same issue with alot of pure alembics too i think. will check the file i sent you

I am curious about this thought. because alembics saved as bgeo really works and stays as references in the vrscene creation, or am i mistaken maybe. its just with trasform it gets crazy.

Hello LeoYfver , sorry for the delay, I couldn't reproduce these strange times. Always got similar times, difference between each export is less than second. I've checked it on windows and linux H18.0.499 and H18.0.566 with new V-Ray and one from 22 oct.

Yes, alembics referenced in a bgeo are exported as references, not baked into vrscene file.
