  • (Resolved) Vray 5 Install conflicts

    Hi guys,

I am running into a small issue when trying to get vray 5 for houdini 18.5.408 installed. I am using the supplied package file to load vray. when I do this it works fine and loads correctly, renders etc, no problems. However, when I add the sidefx labs tools to my houdini path I start getting conflicts and I have tried appending and prepending and what not but each scenario raises an error. As soon as I take out one or the other in the config one or the other works fine, but never both at the same time.

The main error when I append the vray path is:

Error while parsing a menu definition file: "../vfh_home/MainMenuCommon.xml" cannot find element 'h.create_mantra_pbr" needed for ordering of 'vray seperator'. Cannot find element 'help_menu' needed for ordering of 'vray_main_menu'.

I am running Houdini 18.5.408 on windows 10.

    Thanks.

    Best, Christian

As far as I know there is a bug in the Houdini package manager in 408 that causes this. I believe it has been fixed in the next build. Just need a VRay to match it.

Thanks, Does this mean it could be fixed if I roll it back to 18.5.351?

I ended up rolling back to 18.5.351 and everything seems to be working ok now.
