  • Hard to track down render error. Disappearing geo.

We have a major issue with current scene, where when one object display is switched on, it makes another object corrupt or not render correctly (half the geo disappears).

    See vid.

    Any thoughts much appreciated.

    Huh, that's interesting.

Seems like the bounding box fo "geo_animated" is cutting "meshed_sim".
    1. Are there any V-Ray Clippers in this scene?
    2. Are those files cached to Alembic or is it live geometry?
    3. Any chance you could share a single frame cache with me?

If I had the file with me, I'd add a new Renderer, go to the Objects tab and disable the export of both lights and geometry(clear the * in Candidate Objects/Lights), and only force those two nodes + a default dome light (with Force Objects/Lights lists). -> Render
Then override their materials with a default clay material. -> Render
If the problem is still there, I'd disable motion blur, -> Render
then set the Alembic mode to Unpacked so it's treated as a live mesh. -> Render

If you can't share the file, could you please check if any of those steps above fix the problem?

    Best regards!

        1. No I am sure there are not.
        2. Live geo.
        3. Email sent with link (250+mb)

If you have any thoughts when you look at the file, please do share them ... we are under pressure!!!

          Hey Jim Meston ,

At the moment I'm not certain what the root cause of the issue is but adding V-Ray Object Properties and setting the Geometry Type to Static seems to resolve the problem. It certainly appears as a bug so I'm logging it for the dev team and will message back once resolved.

          Best regards!
