  • [HOU-2437] vrscene file take very long time to generate with Pyro cache

Hello I am having an issue with rendering with vray stand alone on our farm . I have a fairly large Pyro sim that renders relatively quickly inside houdini when I sent the file to our render farm it creates vrscene files to be render with stand alone. the vrscene file generation takes almost as long as the sim does. well over an hour for about 10 frames. Is there a work around for this? I tired caching with bgeo and vdb both seem to take the same amount of time. the render itself is only about 5 min. I am on houdini 18.0.566 and vray 4 . is this still the case with vray 5?

        Hey Ghost3d , David,

We'll have a solution shortly - it's been in a branch for testing for a few days now but we're being cautious as it may break a lot of existing functionality.

I'll message once we add the changes which I assume will be in a few days at most, unless something pops up.

        Best regards!

Same here. I have got a big vdb scene that I have been putting off rendering in the hopes that a fix is imminent.

actually when I put Color* the color gradient is disabled but then nothing renders at all. if I put color* it renders again but not picking up the rgb attribute . not sure how this works sorry.
