  • ( open ) [ HOU-2564 ] Houdini 18.5.408 with Vray 5.00.50 crashes

Hi, I get a "19196: Fatal error: Segmentation fault" error when using Houdini 18.5.408 and vray_adv_50050_houdini18.5.408_9ea6717_13034 build.
It happens when trigger the render from the vfb icon.
I also noticed the Vray shelves are visible but empty.
    Anyone had similar issue?

I'm not 100% sure, but wasn't 18.5.408 the houdini version that had issues with packages? Might wanna try 18.5.499 and up.

Get back to build 408 and everything works good.
I guess something is wrong with build 499...

              houdini-py3-18.5.499-win64-vc141

              and

not sure about the py3 version of houdini and that build. I believe python 3 is only supported with the latest (5.1 core) build. I could be wrong.

Python 3 versions of Houdini are supported in V-Ray 5.10.x and up /27th April/.

creac , 18.5.408 with V-Ray build 13034 is working fine on my side.

                    Hi!

Sorry for the question but should the 5.10.x beta be seen among the nightlies by the licensed user?
Should I write to support if I don't see it?
(I really want to try the houdini 18.5.408 python 3 with vray but the vfb is always crash for me as you wrote above)

My mistake, as ronald_a mentioned I first installed two incompatible versions mixing Houdini Python with unsupported vray release.
chakarov I don't any issue with 18.5.408 and V-Ray build 13034 which I have been using for quite a while now and is very smooth.
However I have some issue with 18.5.499 release.

Here are the version I tried
                      houdini-18.5.499-win64-vc141.exe
                      vray_adv_50050_houdini18.5.499_9ea6717_13036

I noticed some issues with the menu that doesn't work properly. Also some weird behavior with camera that doesn't update correctly in the VFB..
I will stick to 408 for now waiting for the next stable release.

                      thx

Hello creac, I've reproduced the IPR issue where camera is not properly updated. But can you be more specific with that menu which doesn't work.

First three menus should list the existing V-Ray ROPs in the scene, otherwise they are empty because there is nothing to be listed.
