tsvetomira.girginova hi, just checking in to ask how this is going. it appears, that the renderspeed of my testscene is now as expected. there still seems to be a difference with the normals.

tsvetomira.girginova bdancer While trying to come up with a better example I think I actually figuered out what the issue with the normals is: In my previous example (the deformed grid) the deformation creates non-planar quads. When rendering directly/unpack abc, the mesh gets triangulated (by houdini/vray scene translation?). When rendering as alembic, the mesh is either not triangulated or triangulated differently hence the different renderresult. Not sure if there can be something done about this. As a workaround one could triangulate the mesh before writing out to abc.
