  • Motion Blur behavior

    Hi,

Test scene is a grid that emits particles straight along the y axis.

If I wanted to render them with vray physical camera motion blur. That only works until the particles start do die. After that I get errors. I think because of the changing ptnum.

switching to Velocity Blur in the geometry node gives me correct mBlur but only If I keep motion blur ticked on in the vray physical cam. Turning motion Blur on in the rop node + geometry node is set to velocity Blur (without mBlur on in camera) is not working for me.

I found out that it indeed works like expected if the camera does not have any vray physical paramters. Then it uses again the parameters in the rop node.

This puzzled me a bit and I think it is a strange behavior. Am I missing something?

There is something strange happening with motion blur for me as well. It is extremely annoying and hard to replicate.
For eg. now I changed geometry samples from 2 to 3 and it stopped keep in mind relative positions of moving object to the camera (everything is blurry even camera is going with the object)... I set it back to two and it does not help. But if I "undo" to the same values (geometrry samples 2) it works again.
It keeps breaking time to time and then I just need to set the cameras and render nodes again (with the same values)... It works for a while and gets broken again.

I am also finding strange MB issues that I haven't been able to nail down exactly what the problem is.

I have run into these issues too, but haven't heard of a way to fix it either. I've found if points are being removed then the motion blur gets broken. This is super problematic.

A lot of motion blur issues are fixed in the more recent nightly builds.
