  • Vray: Exception in core - error, then Houdini freezes or crashes

Hi everyone, I´m rendering an ocean environment, after a short while the buckets rendered are black and this error pops up. The issue seems to be related to a large volume box I´ve added for the atmospheric fog. If I hide it the rendering finished without errors. You can see the setup in the second image. The error persists even if I convert to vdb instead of Houdini native volume.

Any ideas on how this can be fixed? Thanks

Using Houdini 18.5.499 and the latest official release Vray 51020.

          Hi,

It's been over a week without any answer, would this get priority if I submit a ticket or call? It's becoming quite urgent. Thanks

Ambrozie Hi, just because we have seen a very similar error message (and this might have a totally different cause on your side) - but for us it turned out to be a memory (or actually running out of memory) issue while trying to render a single images of a production scene which usually renders in HD getting rendered at very high resolution for print. So it might be worth looking at your memory while rending the image.

Thanks for the suggestion. It doesn't seem to be the case with this file unfortunately (or luckily) ?

Ambrozie reproduced the crash and we should have a fix in a couple of days.

Hi. I just rendered using the build from 02.07, unfortunately, the issue is still present. Any workaround, it's getting really urgent now?

                          Thanks

I was traveling in the meantime. I´ve downloaded the latest build 10.07.2021 and the scene renders fine. Thanks
