  • ( Resolved ) AMD Ryzen Thread Ripper 2990WX Only using half of the logic processors

    Hello,

I'm on the latest build of Houdini 18.596 using V-Ray for Houdini V-Ray Core 5.10.20 [5322b47e] I keep noticing a render speed difference between Maya and Houdini is slower and I kept dismissing to the learning curve,

I only noticed by accident when rending with buckets the VH only using half of the logic processors even dough there are 64 buckets present on the screen! disabling Embree significantly increased render time, but still only using half of the logic cores

has anyone else noticed something similar on AMD Ryzen Thread Ripper 2990WX?

Very odd, I don't own this CPU anymore

I have the 3990wx, it works without issues in VFH and Vray for Maya
Could try setting this to 64 cores manually, in render threads

We have noticed that same 1/2 thread usage on our farm. We are currently rendering 2 frame simultaneously to work around the issue. Luckily we aren't rendering RAM heavy scenes at the moment.

I found a Bug with OCIO in Vray Houdini! I'm using ACES aces 1.2, and I'm using my ENV verbal to set up my colour space. For some, it kills V-ray ability to render.
I ran the same test in Maya was absolutely fine.

Can someone try and replicate this on their side I don't know if it's the version of ACES or just Houdini ocio?

no, I'm using the Build in the offical Download section of the product page, the nightly doesn't give me access to the latest build.
