  • (Resolved) [HOU-2760] Rendering VDB on CUDA/RTX Houdini get stuck

    Hey Guys,
    I found a bug very simple vdb. When I tried to render this in CUDA or RTX Houdini get stuck and then I just have to kill it. CPU works fine.

    Dear hsz, hello.

    Thank you for the provided scene!
    I am looking into it and yes, could approve that there is an issue.

    At first glimpse please keep in mind the advices shared here when rendering volumes.
    I am logging it now for further investigation.

    Best regards,
    TS

      Btw I did follow the suggestion on that thread and that did not help the case Houdini still gets stuck. Also is worth mentioning that I've rendered volumes (vdb) before with any of those suggestions and it worked usually fast and without any issues. So this is new, Thanks

        Yes, I have just marked it as typical advice from our Phoenix team for volume rendering.

        In your case, for now we could suggest the following:
        • switch to Brute force in the GI menu
        • use V-Ray Standalone by adding
          Code:
          -parameterOverride=SettingsRTEngine::gpu_light_cache=1
