  • Motion Blur Isn't Working on proxy

    Hi,

I have a moving Box. I compute velocity with a trail node. I render = I have motion blur

I export this Box as a proxy, I can't have any motion blur.

If I animate a cube in maya > export It as a proxy to Houdini > I have motion blur.

Here is the scene + vrmesh

    Thanks

use alembic instead of proxy (vrmesh).

If It was a personnal project I propably will,
but my supervisor want us to use proxy.

Is It a bug ? Is It something not working wich Is not fixed yet?

I guess it's a bug in the V-Ray Proxy ROP (I'll need a hip file to debug this), but using Alembic is indeed a workaround and it's actually much preferable to use Alembic in Houdini.

About using .abc with proxy Import.
What Is the setup to assign more than 1 material?

If I use a proxy material node like for a .vrmesh I only have 1 input where I should have 3.

              Thx

                - if your alembic consists of a couple of (alembic) primitives you can just assign per primitive
                - if you need to have a „per face“ assignement, you can assign materials before creating the alembic. The path to you material needs to remain intact (can‘t rename or move materials after the alembic has been created or you have to recreate the alembic).

Use native Houdini nodes to work with Alembic.
