in RTX mode (not CUDA and not CPU) if I use a V-Ray Dirt texture on a geo and a volume is intersecting that geo, I get "nice" dirt at the intersecting volume bounds. I know there are features in the dirt tex node for considering same object or by attribute, which I do use as a workaround ...
