  • VFB settings gets lost when jumping between scene files

    Hi,

We constantly run into the issue where the VFB settings like history, background image etc are reset when jumping between hip files.

The background image settings are also reset between every render.

We have the "Store VFB History Settings on ROP" toggle on the VRay rop enabled.

We are running VRay #22080 on Ubuntu.

Does anyone have similar experience with the VFB in Houdini?

I'll check that one right away and get back to you.

This is to be expected if you are using the Background layer on the VFB. We added an option under the Renderer ROP -> Images tab -> Use VFB Background Image that should be used instead. The parameter for the file below also support frame sequences.

      Hey jbvfx ,

Regarding this issue, I'll ask for a slight clarification:

We constantly run into the issue where the VFB settings like history, background image etc are reset when jumping between hip files.
Which one of those two scenarios is giving you a problem:
      1. You have two scenes, A and B. Both are saved on disk with different VFB settings. You start Houdini, open scene A, render --> are the VFB settings already put in place prior to saving the scene still present? You then open scene B and render -> are the VFB settings there?
      2. You have a scene A and you set up your VFB settings there. You then start a new scene, add a V-Ray Renderer ROP and the settings are reset.

I've tried reproducing scenario (1) but things look OK on my end. If you're having trouble with scenario (2) - this is expected to happen. The settings are stored on the ROP node itself - you could either copy it from the old scene, or save a preset and load it in the new scene.

      Best regards!
