  • Houdini help crashes when V-ray is installed

    Hello--

I've used V-ray for Houdini since v18 (maybe earlier), and any Houdini installation that also has V-ray installed crashes when you click the node help button (the little question mark), or if you press F1. The console comes up and endlessly streams "ERROR: network_service_instance_impl.cc(262)] Network service crashed, restarting service" and the only way to stop it is to close Houdini. Is there a way to fix this, outside of having a second V-rayless Houdini install for help, and just never ever accidentally hitting F1?

This actually doesn't happen on Houdini 19.5.303. So: that's a good start! Any way to fix it in older versions?

I'm on Windows 10 on a fairly stout computer.

    Dear bentway23, hello.

    This topic is discussed here.
The fix for this behavior is implemented in our nightly builds from August 11 on.

Please check your currently installed V-Ray version and give us feedback.

    Best regards,
    TS
