  • V-Ray Camera Focal Length not matching actual camera focal length

    Hello,

Regardless of how I change the focal length of the camera it always renders at the default focal length settings. You can see it in the image where even though the focal length is set to 10mm, it still renders as 50mm.

Am I missing a setting? Is there a toggle I haven't clicked? Any help would be very welcome.

I've tried this with latest nightly and official V-Ray 6 for Houdini build and it seems to work as expected. Can you try with new camera ? If it still happens I'll need a hip file.

      Hi Georgy,

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly! I've updated to the latest nightly and the problem persists. Please find the file attached.

I've tried it with multiple cameras and every combination of settings that I can think of but the problem persists.

Hello again, I've checked your scene and yes the issue is reproducible. New cameras and/or Render ROPs does not help. But If I copy all nodes from /obj into a new scene focal length start working. Can you check if this fix the problem on your end. If no, than the problem might be caused by some custom preferences set on your setup.

          Hello,

Thank you for checking that for me. I found that if I use python to set up a basic /out network of renders nodes that this happens. However, once it happens, any other file I make without closing and reopening Houdini also has this same problem, but a new session seems to reset things and the new files are ok.

I'm still not clear about the underlying cause, but now I know how to avoid it.

Thanks again for checking for me, I appreciate your help.
