  • velocity blur not working on meshes

it appears that velocity blur is not working anymore on meshes. It does still work on points, though. This is true for vray 5 and 6.

    Hey ronald_a ,

That's been a known issue for a while (as you've noticed) - we didn't fix it as 99% of workflows revolve around Alembics, and using 'regular' meshes degrades time to first pixel for artists. To top that off, this is the first report for this problem in 6 months, both on the forums and through the support system/private channels.

We can look into resolving it if it's important for you, though!

    Best regards!

Ah, I see. I just did some quick prototype and did not save out any alembics for that. You are correct, using alembics makes this work.

      Thanks

This hit me also in the last project I was working on. (I did not mention it in the forums though) Deceptive thing about it is that ipr preview renderer will render the blur.

ronald_a maybe it will serve you as a workaround if you use a pack node at the very end of your stream. Than the mblur should work also with the mesh version.

            Hey Jon3D ,

Please do ping us in such cases in the future - if we knew it was blocking your work, we would've resolved it

Andrei has fixed this issue starting with today's nightly builds.

            Best regards!

I will. Thank you for your efforts!!

In this case I found the workaround with the pack node and I had only little time. Good to know that its fixed in the latest nightly. Thank you very much.
