  • (open)[HOU-3730]hair renders big difference at different resolution

I try to render hair 1/4 resolution to test something not related to hair, it was nice when reslolution at 1920*1080, but when switch to 1/4 resolution, hair becomes so bright almost washed out.

Hi len_xie , I'll need additional info in order to test/reproduce this. Os, Houdini, V-Ray build, V-Ray Fur or houdini fur/hair, is it a live geo or cached one, lights, shaders, textures, are there caustics, render engine, is it solaris or non-solaris setup.
Of course simple scene will be helpful as well.

attached a simple scene , please take a look.
try turn on "override camera resolution " option in v-ray renderer:
hair renders brighter when resolution is smaller
if IPR is running, toggle the option, seems not much difference, but if stop IPR, change to 1/4 resolution, then start IPR, hair washed out, same goes if in 1/4 reslolution, keep IPR running, change to full resolution, hair kept washed out.

      -----------------------
houdini 19.5.551 & vray_adv_60021_houdini19.5.534_63d42af_22320_windo ws , not solaris, live geo, houdini hair, no causitics

Hi len_xie , I've reproduced and reported the issue but completely forgot to write you. I've logged it in our system and will give you feedback once our devs take a look at it.
