I don't understand, why karma can render this with very little memory but vray can't, I have 128 gb memory and it's still not enough, instanced volume are not instanced at all in vray?

instanced volumes require too much memory and fail to render (> 128 gb)

Dear len_xie, hello.
Please follow the general advices shared here:- Volume Light Cache must be OFF
- Light Scattering Type must be set to Ray-Traced
- Optimize Big Volumetric Grids must be OFF
I've just tested your scene with them and it rendered successfully - 63.91 GB RAM used.
Will now update the links in the initial post or replace them with direct screenshots.
Now they are missing due to some IT system changes, but I am sure that you will easily find the mentioned options in V-Ray PhxShaderSim (volumeGrid).
Please confirm after testing. Waiting for your feedback.
Best regards,
