Houdini for Vray not working

There are a TON of threads about this same issue, but none of them offer any solution. It seems my Vray version and Houdini version are probably incompatible but I cannot find any information about which versions ARE compatible. Nothing in release notes or anything. What is the problem? Why is this so hard? Did we waste our money purchasing this? Things are off to a terrible start.

EDIT: System Requirements claims V-Ray 6 is compatible with Houdini 19 and later, so why isn't VRay shelf or renderer available?

The V-Ray builds are named with the Houdini version that they are intended for. Usually it's when attempting to run V-Ray with a Houdini version that is not yet supported that people hit an issue with their deployment.

Could you share more information so we can figure out where things are going wrong, e.g. your Houdini and V-Ray versions, and any error messages that may be showing up?
