  • [HOU-4287] Chaos Cosmos Proxy Geometry problems

    Hi Dev team,

I'm trying to import meshes from Chaos Cosmos, which works fine, but I'm unable to make any edits to the geometry and still keep the data like uv and materials.

Is this a bug, because it works fine in 3ds max.

An example where I need to do this, is working with a grass import, I need to cull the grass where it intersects with geometry, but as soon as I unpack the geo it looses all the attributes and materials, which is very frustrating.

If I'm doing something wrong (hopefully I am) could you please let me know how to resolve this?

See attached screenshot and HIP File.

    Cheers.

Materials are most of the time applied on packed primitives, so you'll need to pack after the edits, and then apply the material. Or use the new Solaris workflow which if you ask me is better. But takes some learning

We do not support unpacking proxy attributes.

So, just to clarify, there is no way to edit the geometry for my needs while keeping the materials?

Thanks for the reply Hristo, I've tried packing the geometry after unpacking, but it still doesn't render with the material.

          Cheers.

Thanks for the fast response, that's very unfortunate and makes a lot of the chaos cosmos assets completely unusable if you need to make any sort of edits.

Can I request this as a feature?
The only solution to this problem at the moment is to import into 3ds max convert to mesh and export as a different file format or make the edits in max itself.
