  • houdini 20.5 and vray fail to render when using deadline

    local machine renders ok, but once using deadline , workers show error as following:

    VFH | Warning| V-Ray: [OCIOColorSpaceManager::init] -1: Error: Loading the OCIO profile 'C:/PROGRA~1/SIDEEF~1/HOUDIN~1.332/packages/ocio/houdini-config-v2.1.0_aces-v1.3_ocio-v2.3.ocio' failed. This .ocio config 'C:/PROGRA~1/SIDEEF~1/HOUDIN~1.332/packages/ocio/houdini-config-v2.1.0_aces-v1.3_ocio-v2.3.ocio' is version 2.3. This version of the OpenColorIO library (2.1.1) is not able to load that config version. The minor version 3 is not supported for major version 2. Maximum minor version is 1.

    latest production version houdini and latest vray.

    I think this has something to do with houdini 20.5 upgraded their ocio version to 2.3, but vray network rendering still looking for 2.1, while ui version using 2.3

    because when I delete 2.3 and put ocio 2.1 into the ocio folder, it can render, but still ouput error:

    STDOUT: OCIO config load error: Error could not read 'C:/PROGRA~1/SIDEEF~1/HOUDIN~1.332/packages/ocio/houdini-config-v2.1.0_aces-v1.3_ocio-v2.3.ocio' OCIO profile.

    You have to point OCIO env. var. to the desired config. Will this work for you?

      you mean first copy 2.1 ocio to 20.5 packages/ocio folder and in Houdini .env file , add the following line?:
      OCIO ="$HFS/packages/ociohoudini-config-v2.1.0_aces-v1.3_ocio-v2.1.ocio"

        You could copy it to any location and then point env. var. to it.

          How can you render houdini 20.5 on deadline? I have latest version 10.3.2.1 and its not supported there. Latest is 19.5

            Deadline is almost all Python, and pretty easily hackable to do what you want.

              Lol nice thread. However I wish thinkbox/amazon supported new versions software much more frequently.

                No doubt. Since they got rid of all their other software (I, and presumably others, pushed them to make it open source after they abandoned it) all they have to do is maintain deadline, which is pretty cool when it works.
