  • (Open) [HOU-4466] Use pixel aspect ratio as checkbox in rop

    Hello,

We are working on project that have square plate, which require pixel aspect ratio to be set to 2 (from value of 1). This poses a problem when starting a vray frame buffer in newly opened scene, the use pixel aspect ratio in vfb is always reset. I find my self having to click this option too many times since we have multiple rops and when I go to work on each rop I have to set that option over and over. It would be great if this was just a check box under the pixel aspect ratio which I could just check and never worry about.

      Hey Morbid Angel ,

Just a heads up that we have the following environment variable

VRAY_VFB_PIXEL_ASPECT (standalone) – When set to 1 , the pixel aspect correction for the VFB is automatically enabled.
Would that solve the issue for you?

      Best regards!

I'll have to try it, would it work directly from houdini interface?

          Hey Morbid Angel ,

Yes, it will force the "Use Pixel Aspect Ratio" toggle to always be enabled under the VFB View settings.

          Best regards!

This has worked thanks. However I still have an issue where vray vfb always resizes it self when I work on multiple rops. I think the issue is that it always forces to pop out the side bar, and the formatting of the side bars is really big compared to maya.
When frame buffer opens by default it looks like this: The side bar on the right is massive.

It would be great if the vfb ui matched in size to maya where columns and text and fields are the same size (thinner and smaller) And it would respect the frame rendered size to 100% not scale down to 50% Or at least if there would be an option to do that. I am also working on a 4k monitor and rendering 2kx2k frame so there is a lot of room and no need to resize. I end up resizing the frame buffers all the time. Its weird because for a while after I resize when working in the same houdini scene it remembers the resize but after a while it forgets (not sure how this works) and I have to resize again.

Here is Maya's vfb you can see the side columns are much more slick thinner and take a lot less screen space and more space is left for rendered frame.
