  • VolumeGrid shader doesnt Read Color Attribute from Axiom Simulation

I have a smoke sim where two sources meet and are different colors (I'm just using black and white as testing for now). And I cannot get the Cd attribute to bind in the VolumeGrid Shader. I've tried "Cd", "Cd.*" and also "Color field is a vector". No matter what - the simulation is all one color in Vray. If I export the VDB and import it into Blender - I can read the Cd value in the volume and it renders correctly in Cycles. Houdini FX 20.5.410 & V-Ray 62024. Anyone have any suggestions on what I could be doing wrong? Thanks so much for your time!

If I make a new Houdini project and import the exported .vdb file from the sim - I am able to correctly get the color to render by setting the binding for color to "Cd" and "Color Field is a Vector". Seems like a bug either by Axiom or by V-Ray, unless I'm missing something.

      Hello prepost_3d,
I'm currently investigating the reason for this behavior, but it would be really helpful if you could provide some additional information so we can replicate your exact setup accurately. Specifically:
      • The V-Ray version you are using
      • The Houdini version
      • The Axiom version
      Thank you!
