  • (Resolved) PDG - ROP fetch error

I have a simple pdg scene where a mesh is uploaded and has a material applied, according to a csv file and then a render is processed. The bug happens at rendertime where the error comes from the ropfetch node, saying that: no output path found on the rop node.
It seems that the render happens but that the file does not write on disk...
The same scene used to work in Vray 6, but I upgraded to Vray 7 last week, so I wonder if this could be the problem ?
I attached a link to a simple example scene via WeTransfer.
Could someone help me on tyhhis please? Otherwise I'll have to go back to Vray 6 ;-(
    Thank for your help!
    Alain

In the log I see error message "ERROR: Cannot find node 'None'", and hython process exiting right away and I'm pretty sure it's not related to V-Ray...

[update]: It seems "rop" is a reserved key-word used in PDG to setup ROP path internally, if I rename "rop" to smth else (e.g. "attr_rop") everything works fine:

Actually, reverting back to vray 6.1... did not change a thing. I had this issue a few weeks ago and then suddenly it worked. So I started a whole production on it and today it does not work anymore. Any ideas on what could be the cause ? Is it a Houdini issue or Vray ??Your help would be gretly appreciated.
      Thank you in advance!

Hello paprikacolors , I've reproduced the warning but the images are saved on my end. You could add output parm manually in "Output Files" tab of ROP Fetch LOP. It is "SettingsOutput_img_file_path".

Hello @chakarov and thank you for your quick reply.
          Did you use Vray7 ?
I had tried to add "SettingsOutput_img_file_path" in the ROP fetch node as I had seen it was an issue previously, however that did not work on my side.
I reverted back to Vray 6.2 and the sample scene I sent you works now...However my original "production" file fails to render!
Maybe I need to create a brand new file. i'll try this.
What do you think the problem could be??? I'd love to use Vray7 as it was definitely faster...

Yes, I am using V-Ray 7 and as I said, your scene was rendered and the images were saved even with the warning message. What is your V-Ray 7 build number?

Now Vray fails at rendertime... This is in a brand new file....
Is there a way I can see the log file so I can send it to you??
Ii's a different error this time. It seems like Vray does not want to launch at rendertime. I can do it manually from the ROP node...
But not through the ROP fetch node.

I was using Vray build 7.00.10
But I was never able to render anything via Ropfetch.
So I went back to vray 6.2 and now the scene I sent you works but not my production file scene ;-(
Should I install a newer version of Vray 7?

Actually which version of Houdini did you use ???

                  It's working again!
I was using Houdini 20.5.278_py3.10 but tried it on Houdini 20.5.370 and it works, with Vray 7!

Well, sorry for the confusion, but it's not working with Vray7... I got mixed up yesterday and got it to work with Vray6.2 (I thought it was Vray7 but made a mistake)... So Vray7 goes through the process of rendering via RopFetch but does not write the file on disk, even if you add "SettingsOutput_img_file_path" in the node...
So I'll have to remain with Vray 6.2. I don't know why it's working on your side....

I use latest nightly build, if you don't have access to V-Ray 7 nightlies you can ask here https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

I do have access, however, I can't see any builds for Vray 7 for Houdini yet....

Then you don't have access to V-Ray7 nightlies and have to request.

Hello Georgy, I'm almost embarassed to bother you again, but I'm having issue today again with Vray failing at rendertime (throught PDG)
I have a test scene and wanted to check something, so the old test scene still works (marked in the file) but the new part isn't.

Could you please check my scene ?? I'm getting really worried as I have 600 images to render an I really don't want to render them by hand.

Also it seems like the options on Output parm Name (Ropfetch) were not available straight away... i had to recook the node a couple of times before I could see the whole list...

I'm using Vray7 (latest build) and Houdini Houdini 20.5.370
                                Thank you for your help!
