rest in triplanar

Is it possible to add input for using rest attribute to attach the triplanar on. We are using alot of fx and this would help alot.

I'm not sure what will this input do...
Rest attributes are exported as part of the mesh and are not part of the texture...
What's the goal? To automatically export rest attributes to mesh if this socket is connected?

the rest attribut is created before based on the P (position of the attribute). Later in shading you can pick up that rest attribute and attach the triplanar on that rest attribut instead of the object or world position. This makes it possible to stick triplanars to deforming objects.

Yes, I know this. And this is already working like that. Thing I don't understand is how that input could help.

Ah. interesting it picks it up automatically, sorry about that didnt know. So if there is a rest attribute present it will use that. The reason is in some other triplanars node you can choose the attribute yourself so you use a vray_user_color to pickup the rest attribute and pipe it into the reference space on the triplanar node.

this is an example with mtlx in solaris how it could work.

Is it possible to implent a way to control the ref transform with a vector instead of a path to a geometry? In our example we want to have the same direction on a lot off geometries and it would be the cleanest to not use something referenced from outside the shader.

I tested the latest build and the input was there but it doesnt affect anything. Am I doing this correct?

It's not yet supported in Solaris. Will add this week. Basically that's why I haven't commented here yet.

Have you tried it and it doesn't work? I think I've implemented it like a week ago... Could you pls send me a scene if this won't work?
