  • H20 Render Gallery: Implement "RenderStats"-panel

Would it be possible for VRay to hook into the new Render Stats panel and fill in its own data? Currently the panel stays blank when rendering with VRay.
    https://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/solaris/stats.html

As a small additional note, the "RenderTime" viewport-overlay goes bonkers when rendering with VRay.

    Code:
    Houdini 20.0.506
    VRay 6.1.09.22595

Hello Dan Andersen stevejjd Thank you for raising this. We are already looking into it. Is there any specific information that you would find useful to be displayed?

I don't have anything specific other than saying that Renderman has a beautiful implementation worth looking at. It's extremely useful when optimising scenes, especially in Renderman because Renderman is based on knowing how to tweak each part of the render rather than one size fits all approach. I think V-Ray users will still benefit hugely.

Hi viktor_angelov and thanks for your reply!

I agree with stevejjd that RenderMan is the gold standard in render stats. The amount of information available and the way it's presented makes it really useful and easy to work with.

Anyway, back to the Solaris Render Stats panel, I think most of the info you get from Karma is relevant. I don't know if the fields and layout is customizable at all, or your are bound to what SideFx has designed, but whatever you can do to present your own stats would be welcome.

IMO, as a bare minimum there should be:
              - Resolution
              - Elapsed time
              - Peak memory use

.. And fixing the "Render Time"-overlay in the viewport is important too, I think.

Hey, maybe it sounds obvious, and there might already be a way to display that (which I haven't found), but it would be very useful to display what frame it was rendered from too!

Did the original issue posted in this thread get resolved?

It seems VRay reports incorrect/broken renderstats in the viewport overlay as well as in the EXR metadata.

                        No.

                        > It seems VRay reports incorrect/broken renderstats

Which ones? We literally returning only cameraRays, so I've no idea what do you mean by broken.

                          EXR/renderTime_s
                          EXR/renderMemory_s

Is that not something VRay reports?

                              Hi,
Has there been any work done to output render stats in RenderGallery and renderstatsoverlay in Solaris ?
If it has been, please, scratch this message
                              Cheers!
