  • how do we get AOVs working in solaris ?

    Hi all,
I am using houdini 20.0.547 + vray nightly build vray_adv_61009_houdini20.0_dbfb80b_22632

I throw down a vraystandardrendervars and check on a bunch of stuff but there are no aovs rendering in the render outputs list.

Is there a proper workflow for getting aovs running in the IPR in solaris ?

    Thanks
    Steve

I just want to add that it's standard workflow for USD RenderVars and not specific to V-Ray.

Thanks so much for the fast feedback, I really appreciate it. I followed the instructions and it works perfectly. Some feedback is that, instead of adding many render vars manually, I used this expression "/Render/Products/Vars/vraystandardrendervars/*", it uses a wildcard to select all rendervars at the path.

One more question I have is, how can we make sure that beauty is the first render var in the list so that we see it by default?

        Thanks

          Hi again!

You mean the order in the Houdini drop down menu next to the viewport or?
I am not quite sure am I understanding it correctly...
          Please elaborate more on this.

          Thanks in advance!

We have no control over that menu sorting. I'm pretty sure it's just sorted by AOV name.

                  1. renderChanelToon source name is "toon".
                  2. extratex is currently not trivial and I've posted example setup here https://forums.chaos.com/forum/v-ray...76629-extratex
                  3. which AOV are you missing in the Standard AOVs node?

Thanks. I tried. I'm also aplplied Vray Tonn Material on whole scene, it works, but it don't add edges. Any change to have effect like toon, without rendering separate render, so where edges of object is white, rest is black?

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with a bunch of Karma related nodes...

I'm attaching V-Ray setup for toon (Render Settings toon settings are only working as overrides).

Thanks. Sorry, wrong file. Your solution is work, but I was refereeing to solution in Chaos Docs^ https://docs.chaos.com/display/VRAYH...ect+in+Solaris I go step by step, and didn't achieved edges on object. and also not clear how to make it effect only in Render Element, and any possibility to apply it on whole scene on a lot of objects with different materials and when toon appear only as render element?

                          Please find correct file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zEz...ew?usp=sharing

I still can't figure out how to receive Toon effect in separate Render element is Solaris, for now it's only appear over all AOVs
