(Fixed) [HOU-4763] Can't get 16bit half primvars to work

Float and double primvars render as expected, but half doesn't seem to work in VRay (it does in Karma).

Would this be possible to support?

Gosho.Genchev .. A gentle ping. We're stuck on 6.2 stable for now, so I'm curious if this fix will find/has found its way into this branch?
