    Hey,

    It would be great to be able to override settings like, cast shadows, visible to reflections, primary visibility, etc on a per primitive level.

    Through simple predefined attributes, something like vrayCastShadows = 1. If the attributes doesn't exist object level settings take over.

      bdancer can say how easy this implementation is, I can offer you a workaround for now. You can group your geo by attribute and then in the material SOP you can override material on those groups, with some "renderStat" node inside the builder network. This way you still have only one material , but assign different properties with RenderStats or WrapperMtl with Material SOP.
