  • conductive IOR

    Hello!

I want a different ior for conductive material vs dielectric(metalnes 0-1)

As the workflow is now we cant have a material with both conductive and dielectric properties in the same shader. the ior for our dielectric is usually 1.5 and our conductive are usually 1 (when metalness is 1) so we match the substance painter look.

Right now we need to use 2 shaders and a blend material with the metalness texture connected to the wight input. Would be nice to be able to in 1 shader.

    Regards Alexis

Hello and sorry for late reply. You just need to use metalness map as mask for other components /diffuse, reflection, ior, roughness/. Don't forget to unlock Fresnel IOR from refraction one and enable Roughness in Options tab of V-Ray Material.
    here is one example

Ah, you re changing the ior with the same mask, fair enough :P thanks for the tip!

Im trying still to make it more beginner friendly so i wonder if having separate ior would help still but not that important right now
