  • [HOU-2643] Remove vrimg on render complete when using resumable rendering

Resumable rendering is really great if a machine runs out of memory or a cloud machine gets shut down but it leaves a lingering vrimg file around even when the render has completed and succeeded. Would be nice with a flag to remove the vrimg file after it has converted it to an exr to not take up additional storage space.

We keep the file so we can detect that the frame is completed. This is especially useful when resuming a sequence.
With progressive rendering you can even resume a finished render if you change the image sampling settings.

That said, we'll think about adding an option. In this case, rendering a completed frame again after the file is deleted would start a new render instead of detecting that it's already completed. Would this be ok?

        Hi radoslav.platikanov,

That's totally fine, in our case Deadline keeps track of what's already rendered.

        Best,
        David.

Same as what David said. For us Tractor keeps track of if the file has completed successfully so we don't need VRay to do it.
