  • add colorspace settings to light textures

Right now we always need to put a image file node and link to the lights to be able to convert the lights correctly. It would be nice if these settings also where on the lights like dome light. This would be for both Solaris and non solaris

    Hey LeoYfver ,

That makes sense although I have a question - are we talking about the Transfer Function + RGB Primaries options only, or the entire OCIO texture as well?

    Best regards!

Gosho.Genchev I would probably say both. OCIO is probably the most important to have control over the textures. but i guess there is a reason for both existing on the image file node.

        Hello Gosho.Genchev !

Yes OCIO is what we would use to color manage the textures on lights at GBK.
Having the other options would probably be useful to people not using OCIO though.

        Thanks!

Transfer Function + RGB primaries does the same thing as the OCIO tab
Utility sRGB texture is sRGB transfer function + sRGB Primaries conversion
Utility Linear sRGB is Linear Transfer Function + sRGB Primaries conversion
Utility RAW is Linear Transfer Function + RAW Primaries, which means no conversion takes place

The new Auto mode in the Transfer Function menu, V-Ray will pick up the correct Transfer Function based on the file extension
So a JPEG will have an sRGB Transfer Function and an EXR will have a Linear Transfer Function automatically
This means an artist will only need to change RGB Primaries menu for the intended conversion.

Some people might prefer the OCIO tab or the OCIOTex node, it does the same thing

                Gosho.Genchev Hey!

I wanted to check up on this. Because we are moving to solaris right now we dont have a way that i know to color transform (ocio) our textures. Before we could do that to a texture and reference but not sure that works now. So is it possible to add the OCIO tab to the lights for vray?

                Regards Alexis
