Would really love the vray lens effects to work in solaris in IPR. No need to comp. I believe everything should push towards getting everything in IPR without the need to comp as much as possible, leaving compositing to only things you really need. This is where many render engines are going, to get everything you need in the render and only use comp for only what you need

Arnold, Renderman and some other engines like Unreal and some stuff I saw Weta Digital do in Unity point towards getting these compositing features in the actual render engine and not the frame buffer or in Nuke. The idea is to get as close as possible in render and to comp only whats needed.

I wanted to update this post by pointing to the vast opportunities in Houdini 20.5 with COPs (Copernicus).
I can easily imagine the VRay Frame buffer compositing tools being implemented in COPs for Houdini 20.5. Things like filmic tone mapping, luts, color correction, lens effects would all be viewable in realtime rendering inside of Houdini Solaris with COPs.
Will Chaos group be exploring this idea?
