  • V-Ray 5 for Maya, Beta - now available!

    Hi everyone,

I'm excited to announce that we've officially launched the V-Ray 5 for Maya Public Beta.

You can apply for the beta here: https://www.chaosgroup.com/vray/maya/beta
Once you've registered, you can find the download links for your products in https://my.chaosgroup.com/products

There is a separate forum section for the beta, where you can find out more about the new features and post your feedback: https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...-for-maya-beta

    Here's the new feature highlights:
    • New VFB with LightMix and Layer Compositing. Completely redesigned Frame Buffer. The LightMix allows exploring multiple lighting scenarios without re-rendering. Compositing layers for powerful post-processing.
    • Light Path Expressions that allow outputting any lighting information to a custom render element for fine-grained compositing control. LPE Boolean Operations allow combining expressions and the built-in presets give you a quick start.
    • New VRayProxy - completely redesigned new VRayProxy object with background loading with a simple single-geometry node scene structure that displays the object hierarchy. Material and visibility overrides can be done with drag-and-drop, by material name or by using simple string-matching patterns. We've also included a tool that converts scenes with proxies to the new VRayProxy node.
    • ACEScg color space for rendering with automatic adjustments for textures, dispersion, sun & sky, and light temperature colors.
    • Coat layer in VRayMtl that allows adding coatings directly. It's simpler and faster than using a Blend Material.
    • Sheen layer in VRayMtl for rendering fabrics.
    • New Sun and Sky model, which improves lighting at sunrise and sunset.
    • The Blue-noise sampling optimization helps distribute noise better with fewer samples.
    • GPU Enhancements, which include 2D displacement support, per-device memory tracking and an initial out-of-core implementation for geometry.

    And many other improvements, including:
    • JSON-formatted Light Select metadata to EXR files;
    • Blend Material with unlimited dynamic layers
    • New Installer
    • GPU support for the Dome Light Ground projection
    • Cached Playback support for caching the VRayVolumeGrid in Maya 2019 and 2020
    • Back-to-beauty render element preset
    • Improved GPU support for Maya lookdevkit nodes and the Maya ramp texture
    • Simplified UI
