We've officially released V-Ray 6 for Maya!
Useful links:
This release adds a number of new features. Here's the highlights:
V-Ray Enmesh - efficient geometry patterns for creating complex surfaces with lots of details.
Procedural clouds - animatable procedurally generated clouds that cast ground shadows are available in the V-Ray Sun and Sky.
V-Ray Profiler - tracks and reports the time spent calculating shaders in your scenes for performance monitoring and optimization.
Finite Dome light mode - Elevate your product design and HDRI environment renders. Set the scale of your light, and have full control over blend settings with the new Finite Dome mode.
USD improvements - V-Ray 6 supports MayaUSD versions up to and including 0.19.0. Improved OpenVDB support in USD. Improved V-Ray material export.
Performance improvements - V-Ray Environment Fog renders up to 30% faster. The V-Ray Material Translucency renders up to 2x faster. Scenes with thousands of instances now render more efficiently.
Thin Film layer in VRayMtl - for soap bubbles, oil spills, and more.
Chaos Cloud Collaboration - rapid, consolidated feedback on your work’s progress. Work can be shared for comments and annotations with clients and teammates.
Background Chaos Cloud submissions - Submitting to Chaos Cloud for rendering now happens in the background on Windows, leaving Maya fully responsive.
V-Ray Decal with Displacement - for even more realistic cracked walls, rocks, scratched and rusty surfaces, embossed lettering, and more.
Enhanced V-Ray Material energy preservation - more physically accurate rough metals and other reflective surfaces.
Light Cache in IPR - for identical renders in production and IPR.
VFB Composition Guides Layer - overlay Rule of Thirds, Golden Ratio and more guides right in the VFB.
VFB Panorama Viewer - previews spherical panorama render.
V-Ray GPU Improvements – support for nearly all of the new V-Ray 6 features. Faster Light Cache, improved Trace Depth workflow and a new Device Selector that allows assigning devices to tasks.
Notes:
* V-Ray 6 Beta licenses will be suspended
* The V-Ray 6 for Maya Beta forum will be locked as read-only and later archived
