  • V-Ray 6 for Maya, Update 1 - now available!

    We've officially released V-Ray 6 for Maya Update 1!

This release adds a number of new and exciting features. Some highlights:

With this release we add support for Maya 2024, and there are available builds for Apple Silicon and Linux RHEL 8 and Rocky Linux 8

USD - Added support for MayaUSD 0.22.0 and 0.23.0 and better export of assets. We've added support for export of Render Elements, Object Properties, Dome Camera and V-Ray Proxy.

Chaos Scatter - we heard you loud and clear. Chaos Scatter is a powerful tool for quickly populating a scene. It is especially useful for scattering vegetation in outdoor scenes, but it can fit into any project’s needs - scatter planets and stars in space, cars in a traffic jam, soap bubbles in the air, and whatever else you can imagine. It has three different scattering modes: along curves, on surfaces and inside bounding boxes, and many many customization options.

Custom Light Decay - Get creative with control of light intensity over distance. Adjust hotspots, the length of god rays, intensity and spread and create any effect to perfectly showcase your product or light your scene.

Bump To Glossiness -The new Bump to Glossiness node automatically generates the correct amount of glossiness to preserve micro surface detail from normal maps that would otherwise be lost over distance. This can be especially useful for characters' skin or normal-mapped detail on metals rendered at a distance.

NVIDIA AI Denoiser upscaling - NVIDIA’s upscaling technologies is now part of our Denoiser and promises up to 3 times faster rendering It is perfect for creating previews in a short amount of time.

Masking for Post effects in VFB - Use Cryptomatte or other masks to apply Lens Effects to selected lights or objects. Choose which objects get sharpened, blurred or denoised.

Faster time to first pixel - Thanks to geometry compilation optimizations for static meshes and hair, the average time to first pixel is now 2.5 times faster and up to seven times in some scenes.

More detailed reports with V-Ray Profiler - New events tracked before and after rendering allow you to make further optimizations to your scenes - track scene export, geometry compilation and many more. You can also decide on the level of detail of the profiler report with the new Max Depth control. The profiler now generates reports in html format, which are readable by any browser.

VRay Sun and Sky Improvements - Clouds can now be adjusted with several new options for seed, density and an addition of contrails.

Emissive Materials in Light Mix - Adjust the intensity, color and contribution of emissive materials in your final image without re-rendering. If you like the changes, you can keep them in the VFB or transfer them to the scene with a click of a button.

V-Ray Decal Additive Bump - Mix the bump of the surface you’re projecting on with the decal material’s bump. Ideal for applying logos, labels, imperfections and others on objects that already use a bump map.

Multiple Environment Fogs - Morning fog over a murky water lake or any other scenario requiring more than one Environment fog can now be achieved.

GPU Improvements - An average of 50% less memory consumption using the new Compressed Textures mode. Render complex cutaways using the Mesh mode for V-Ray Clipper. Render materials with uniformly scattered light inside of the with the added Uniform IlluminationTranslucency method. We've also added initial support for some Raw Render Elements.

Intel OpenPGL Path Guiding rendering - experimental feature that can speed up renders by up to 20% when using Light Cache in some cases.

    And many more!
