  • Environment fog and 3D textures

Been experimenting with environment fog and 3D textures plugged into density. I'm noticing that very few of them seem to work as expected or as outlined in the docs. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the ability of 3D procedurals to create volumetic data..... are there some textures that will work and others that won't? I've really only be able to get the marble texture to create anything like volumetric density effects, and that one doesn't really have many useful attributes that can be animated.

Whatever 3D textures VRay supports for rendering should work as density textures to the environment fog.
Make sure to enable 'alpha is luminance' in the textures' color balance rollout for this to work.
2D textures can also work, but you'll need to create them as projections.

Let me know if there's a particular texture that doesn't work and I'll have a look.
