  • Megascans Bridge to Maya Vray

I've started using Megascans and the Bridge tool to bring surfaces and plants into Maya and it "sets" them up in a Vray shader. Bridge sets up a Vray shader like this:

    Albedo - Diffuse Color Slot

    Roughness - Reflection Glossiness Slot

Normal - Bump Slot (Normal Map in Tangent Space)

There are other maps (gloss, specular) but they are not plugged in.

Does anyone who has used Megascans in Vray used these other maps?

roughness and glosiness is the same control of the attribute but i believe its inverted. So you use either or. Specular controls the intensity of reflection.

        Morbid Angel,

So you are saying to plug the specular map into the Reflection Color or Amount slot?

Also do I just use the Maya File node's Effects ->Invert feature to invert the Roughness texture?

Also, some Megascans have a translucency map. Any ideas of if or how it should be plugged in?

Specular should go into Reflection Color.
Haven't looked into megascans, so not really sure what translucency is supposed to do. Can you give us some examples?
To invert the roughness, it would be easiest to just enable 'use roughness' in the reflection options of the VRay material, although the invert option on the file node will also work.

A representative from Quixel answered my questions on Polycount.

            Specular - Reflection Color

            Glossiness - Reflection Glossiness

            Translucency - Translucency Color

That seems to work pretty well in my renders so far.
