  • Proper Linear Workflow Out of the Box

Over the years the workflow has changed so much for proper linear workflow with Vray for Maya it's been hard to keep straight the most efficient. With Vray Next is it truly just setup right out of the box? No need to gamma correct texture files, the preset in render settings is correct and you don't need to disable srgb in the frame buffer? Feels like such a stupid question but since I've upgraded to next my renders have looked great without tweaking any settings and I want to make sure I'm not missing anything -- fantastic if this is the case.

Hey gooseneck, does it mean there is no need to put ref glossiness map etc. in a RAW color space? Thanks

displacements , andnormals have to be on Raw and Maya can take care of that in the preferences, you could use glossiness as Raw specially if it’s 16 bit but i usually work with jpegs cause they are small files and black and white values can always be tweaked after connection is made to control glossiness, unlike a displacement(usually left alone) and normal maps. play with a glossiness file in both modes and see how affects your desired look.
If files are coming from Substance then...

        IOR* RAW Fresnel IOR*
Normal RAW Bump and Normal Mapping

You can for example define in color management under preferences to use color manage, and select which formats to exclude from receiving the sRgb correction like exr, hdr etc.
